August Member Show and Fiber Showcase
6/26/2025 - 7/28/2025

The Art League again invites artists from Local Cloth to join our member artists to participate in our August Art Place exhibit in our new gallery space at 730 Locust Street in the Historic 7th Avenue District of Downtown Hendersonville.  The combination of various art forms in our previous Fiber and Textiles show was extremely well received and we'd like to do it again.  The Art League's new gallery space is located in a high traffic area and is nearly three times the space we had in our previous gallery.

The exhibit will run from August 1, 2025 to August 30, 2025 at the Art Place gallery.  An opening reception will provide an opportunity for visitors to meet the artists on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

In addition to the work in all medium from our members, the exhibit is open  to the following including derivations and combinations of materials:
  • Felting: A process that compresses fibers into dense, durable fabrics or sculptures.
  • Quilting: Layering and stitching fabrics to create intricate patterns and textures.
  • Weaving: Crafting textiles by interlacing threads in structured patterns.
  • Embroidery: Ornamental stitching that adds detail and narrative to fabrics.
  • Lace Making: Creating delicate patterns by looping and twisting threads.
  • Paper-making: Transforming fibrous materials into handcrafted sheets.
  • Mixed Media Assemblages: Integrating fiber with other materials for multidimensional works.
  • Surface embellishment

Application Procedures and Details
Jurying will be digital.

It is very important that artists upload only one jpeg image for each piece of art being submitted.  Thus, if the artist submits one piece, they will submit only one photo, or two photos for two pieces of art, etc.  Please check that the artwork is properly oriented in the photo, that the frame or other peripheral objects are not included.  Attention should also be given to the keystone effect and glare, which are common issues in photographing artwork.   The exhibition juror will select the participating pieces from these digital photographs; the prize winners will be selected by the judge viewing the original art at the exhibit once the exhibit is installed.  Artwork images cannot exceed 5MB

Artwork images must be titled artist LAST NAME-FIRST NAME-TITLE – for example Jones-Adam-Water Lilies.  Do not upload images with the numeric numbering system of your camera or cell phone.  Any images not properly labeled will not be juried.

Accepted work when delivered, must include the following information on the back of the artwork:  artist name, title of the piece, category, price, email address, phone number. ALHC will use this information to correctly identify your piece.

Disclaimer
Not all entries will be chosen to display in this exhibit. No refunds will be given if your work is not selected. We reserve the right to refuse any work that does not comply with all specifications or differs greatly from submitted digital images.  Your electronically submitted entry form signifies your agreement with the terms and conditions stated herein, including to use accepted entries for advertising purposes.

Return of Art
We are very limited on space, so any art not picked up by the deadline will remain the property of ALHC unless other arrangements have been agreed upon in advance.

ALHC is not responsible for loss, theft or damage during the exhibition.  We will take all reasonable care of works while the art is in its custody. Artists, if they wish, may make their own insurance arrangements to cover their artwork.
