Micro-Organic Landscapes is a playful, exploratory watercolor and mixed-media class inspired by the hidden patterns of the human body and the earth itself. Drawing on influences such as cellular structures, aerial views, geological cross-sections, and medical illustration, we’ll create abstract landscapes that feel alive, layered, and energetic.

Using watercolor as our foundation, we’ll build depth through intuitive color choices, organic mark-making, and mixed-media accents such as ink, gouache, and texture. This class invites curiosity rather than perfection — you don’t need to “know what you’re making” before you begin. Instead, we’ll let forms emerge naturally, much like cells dividing or landscapes forming over time.

All supplies are included, and all experience levels are welcome. This is an ideal class for artists who love abstraction, science-inspired imagery, expressive color, and discovering unexpected beauty through process.

Artist Bio:
Miriam Hughes is a watercolor and mixed-media artist, educator, and longtime creative explorer known for her warm, encouraging teaching style and playful use of color and texture. With a background as a medical and geophysical illustrator, she brings a deep understanding of layering, structure, and observation—while joyfully breaking the rules in her current work through watercolor and collage.

Miriam is the perfect guide for this workshop because she creates spaces where curiosity replaces judgment and experimentation is the goal. She specializes in helping beginners feel confident and experienced artists feel free again, offering clear guidance, gentle permission to play, and a deeply human approach to making art. Her workshops are less about “getting it right” and more about discovering what happens when you trust your hands, your instincts, and the process.
