Date: June 14, 21, 28, and July 5, 2023, 11-2pm
Location: Art Place Studios Warehouse
Fee: Members: $150.00, Non-members: $175.00
Maximum Class Size: 6
About the Class: Learn hands on the many ways to make metal sculpture by welding with oxygen and acetylene. We will learn to braze, cut with a torch and plasma cutter. Filing, grinding, cold attachments and finishing.
Supplies: Students will need to come to class prepared with protective outerwear, such as heavy denim and or leather, closed footwear. The class will provide equipment and hand tools. There will be metal that is price per foot and welding rods are per rod available at the class. If the student would like to bring their own metal they are welcome however they'll be no Chrome or galvanized metals please.
Experience: Beginners and Intermediate experience
About the Instructor/Artist: Much of my life has been spent creating and sculpting with metal. I've been a long time member of the Creative Arts Workshop faculty in new Haven, Connecticut. I've recently moved to North Carolina and I have over 30 years experience in teaching metal sculpture. I studied at Pratt institute, Paire School of Art, Middlebury college. My work has been featured at exhibits at Matthew Lockwood museum, the New York guild, Society for Connecticut Sculptors, The Silvermine Arts Center, Chesterwood and Grounds for sculpture. I have pieces permanently on display at Yale in New Haven, CT., New York, Michigan, Aetna headquarters in Hartford CT., CA., MO., RI.,FL.,
