Poet Richard Morgan believes there is personal poetry in all of us. These are our select words that express feelings or describe events in our lives. Once written, they may be shoved into a drawer or shared with loved ones or friends. Either way, there is a benefit to writing them down for they make feelings more real and put memories into focus. Richard will tell what he has learned from a lifetime of writing hundreds of poems. He will encourage, escort, and assist you in your efforts to record your words and write your poetry.

Skills or Experience Required: The only pre-requisite is the student's desire to write personal poetry.

Instructor's Brief Bio: Since 2011, Richard has published 10 books of his poems, most illustrated by his wife, Pat Morgan’s watercolors. His book, Poems of Your Own – A Guide to Writing Personal Poetry, will be used in class. Each student will be given a copy. Richard first taught writing personal poetry to adults and teenagers while living on the Jersey Shore. Since moving to Hendersonville four years ago, he has taught poetry classes at the Blue Ridge Center for Lifelong Learning and other venues.
