Event Description
Guest Instructor from England: Daisy Bow DuToit
Date: September 23 - 2 sessions
9:30-11 and 12-1:30 Each priced separately
Location: The Art Place Studio Classroom
Fee: $45.00 Members, $60.00 Non Members per session
Maximum Class Size: 20
About the Class: Inspired from the teachings of Robin Wall Kimmerer, I introduce cyanotype and get students to consider plants that are significant to them. After a brief discussion about our relationship to nature (and how every breath we take is a gift from the plants) I do a demonstration print for the room with flowers from my pressed flower collection. After that the students get to print five postcard size pieces cyanotype paper, with my guidance. As it’s a really accessible process, everyone leaves with 5 beautiful prints, feeling closer to nature and like an expert in cyanotype. I prepare 5 x A6 size paper (postcard) with the cyanotype chemical. I provide the tools and materials for participants to use. The pressed flowers add the most value.
Supplies: All supplies will be provided.
Bio: Daisy Bow is a creative storyteller that shares video content about the cyanotype process and have my work currently exhibited in London. I’ve collaborated with Levis, The National Trust and Polaroid. I’ve hosted cyanotype workshops at Royal Botanical Kew Gardens, the British Museum, John Lewis and Waitrose. I’ve also run smaller more intimate workshops both with sunlight and plug in UV lights. I have 18k followers on Facebook, 73k followers on Instagram and 141k followers on TikTok and I often have people on my social media asking me to run a workshop in America and as I am visiting family, I figured it would be a great opportunity to share my skills. She is currently working on her PhD at the Kingston School of Art in Craft and Social Media.
