Art! The Herald Angels Sing!
We are making a list & checking it twice, and have a gift for our members!
We are inviting all Art League members who participate in the December member exhibit to submit handmade holiday items to be sold in our 2nd Annual Holiday Show.
The fine print:
Artists who participate in the December member exhibit may participate for free. All Art! proceeds go to the artist (no % taken). Members wishing to participate in the Art! sale but who do not exhibit in the December show must pay a $25 fee to have entries to this Art! sale.
Bring in your Art! holiday items on 12/3 (11a – 1p) when you drop off your December exhibit item. Be sure each item is tagged with the item name (e.g. ornament), price, and your name. If you are unable to drop off at that time, please contact Ann at 252-599-0904 to make other arrangements.
Art! runs from 12/6 to 12/15 in the Gallery building. Remeber there is also a Studio Holiday show for that first weekend December 7th. Each artist is limited to 3 items at a time; when one sells, you can replace it. Lowest priced item accepted must be priced at least $20. (Otherwise, accounting is a nightmare. And we want this to be a dream sale!)
Registration is not a requirement, however, it would be good to know how many members will participate. You can pay on the date of drop off if not in the show.
All members who have items in the Art! sale will promote it (we will provide a digital flyer for promotion to the public) via email, FB, Insta, etc. It is in all our best interests to promote this as much as possible! It is also expected that all Art! participants will commit to working at least one docent shift in the Gallery during the Art! show We will promote the Studio Sale with this Art! sale in the Gallery.

Come join us as we savor various courses of art! This month, a panel of members will share their passions for creating art. They will talk about their art, their journey to discover their art, and their art process. What do they hope for as they create their art? What do they look for in others' art? Free to members (but we don't serve lunch -- while you're welcome to brown bag). This series meets monthly on the second Monday from 12 - 1 (or so) in the Studio classroom. Please register to ensure adequate space for all.
THIS MONTH we will have an added session! After we are inspired by these paper artists, anyone who wishes may stay and create their own collage. Perhaps a holiday card? We will play with paper until 4 or so. Be sure to bring your own scissors, chosen images, etc. Kate will also provide collage fodder, 5x8 mat board foundation, and adhesives. THIS WILL REPLACE THE DECEMBER COLLAGE PLAYSHOP (normally held on the 3rd Sunday afternoons).
Delicious Details meets monthly on the second Monday from 12 - 1 (or so) in the Studio classroom. Please register to ensure adequate space for all.

Artist Bio: Judi Moolten is a retired trauma behavioral specialist. Judi spent 20-plus years as a social worker and clinical director for nonprofits before she opened her own mental health training facility that she ran until COVID hit. Prior to COVID, she traveled the world training clinicians in the most advanced somatic psychology processing tools available. Now retired from the Mental health profession as a licensed clinician, she has found a way to disrupt behavioral health and the art world by bringing what was once used only in a clinical setting to treat unhealthy stress to the mainstream. Judi occasionally teaches, coaches, and supervises clinicians and non-mental health professionals in stress that leads to trauma. She also teaches real estate agents how to apply stress-reducing tools to the art of communication between buyers and sellers of property. She owns her own Real Estate Firm, Grateful Mindset Properties, where she serves WNC & beyond with a grateful mindset and volunteers for many nonprofits in the area as a charity liaison and more. In addition, she has a weekly radio show combining, art, science, and a tad of real estate. Privacy in the Art Place Studio classroom is not guaranteed. We ask that all attendees keep confidentiality: Don’t share other group members’ stories or personal information without express permission. You are welcome to share your experiences and insights using “I-statements,” but refrain from advice-giving or problem-solving for others unless specifically requested.

About the Class: Join us as we create multi-layered vision boards which incorporate aspects of our identities, goals, guiding words for this next phase of life, symbols, poems, quotes, and space to add additional elements over time. Like you, your vision board is layered & dynamic. It is meant to shift, change, and develop as you experience joys and challenges throughout your life.
Think of this process as an invitation to bring forward the experiences you want more of:
-How do you want to feel?
-What theme do you want to explore?
-What could all of this look like?
We will incorporate writing, painting, simple doodle-drawing, and collage. My hope is that you’ll feel the freedom to experiment and play, so you’ll leave this workshop with a completed vision board that is uniquely yours, and that you’ll be excited to view and reference throughout time.
Supplies: The supply fee covers one 17x13 bulletin board for each participant. Additionally, various papers, magazines, craft paints, collage materials, markers, and ephemera will be available to share. You are welcome to bring any photographs or poems that you would like to include on your vision board.

About the Class: Relationships are one of the most rewarding — as well as the most frustrating aspects of our lives. Whether in intimate or work settings, the quality of our relationships has an enormous impact on the quality of how we live, our self-esteem, and our careers. Yet, we often find the behavior of others baffling — even if we have known them intimately for many years. Often, the things we do not understand in others are the greatest sources of problems and conflicts in our relationships. Clearly, the better we know ourselves and the people in our lives, the more harmonious and satisfying our relationships will be. This is a workshop for Couples. Couples will work together to connect through Somatic Art. We will access areas where the individual may be blocked from their artistic expression and how the couple may find a deeper connection through artistic communication. Using tools from EMDR/Bilateral Stimulation, Enneagram Typing/Character types, and IBSR Somatic mapping each participant will create a deeper connection with themselves and others.
We will remove unhealthy stress and open up the artist's palette to physical expressions of color, mental descriptors, and balancing of the art/science part of our brain, or organized side while opening it up to the fully self-expressed side. We will remove barriers to creativity and discover what artwork best suits you.
We will help participants recognize personal strengths as well as to uncover the blind spots that they bring to their relationships. If you want to improve your relationship with a spouse, child, friend, business associate, or family member, this Workshop will be invaluable.
What skills, experience or pre-requisites are required for this class?
Pre-req's teacher will send some materials via email for participants to fill out at least 24 hours before class. Participants will bring, tissue, a journal, favorite pens, pencils, and markers.
