TuneZenArt uses a unique combination of music, deep breathing, and meditation to connect to your subconscious, which then allows you to connect to a universal consciousness. In this state, thought is replaced by intuition and guided only by your imagination. This is not art therapy, but rather intuitive guidance to break through artistic blocks. We begin the class with a short introduction to TuneZenArt and a little about the instructor. We will then put on our ear phones and listen to the music each student has pre-chosen for themselves. After that, we will do a deep breathing exercise before going into a pre-recorded meditation lasting approximately 8-10 minutes. The meditation chosen for this class will have the participants walking in a beautiful forest setting toward what they imagine as their dream art studio. While in the studio, the student may encounter and speak to their creative guide. Once everyone has allowed their intuition to replace the mind, we will then choose some art supplies to create a painting. It is suggested that you choose an art medium you have not tried. This will delight your inner child.
All skill levels and experience. Upon registration, you will be sent a short questionnaire to fill out and send back
Need to bring to class:
*Fill out application provided upon sign up
*Phone with headphones
*Some art supplies you normally use. Bring enough to make a small painting/piece of art (You will be exchanging your usual art media for media you wish to try) Choose at least one from each list):

The Artist Within is more than an art workshop. In this program, the journey to making art is just as important as making the art itself. If we prepare ourselves properly before sitting down to create, we will be able to drown out our mind's negative chatter, and instead listen to our inner self for guidance and encouragement. We do this through deep breathing exercises, a short meditation, (where you will meet your creative guide), and a few positive affirmations.
We will then create intuitive art. Some call this neurographic art (a long word for doodling, basically), but the benefits from creating this type of art is that it changes the way you see things, feel things, the way you respond to your feelings. It is about as basic as you get, and without going into more clinical detail, it is the "spark" of ingenuity that comes from giving free reign to your imagination.
Supplies will be provided which include small canvas board, pencils, black Pixma pens/fine - markers, Tombow dual-tip markers. Will also have acrylic paints and brushes/palette knives for those more comfortable with paint.
This class is for all skill levels. Only pre-requisite is having an open mind.

"Travel far enough, you meet yourself." - David Mitchell. In this case, the journey is a creative path that takes you on an enjoyable and often surprising process of finding images that speak to you, then arranging them to create reflection cards about your personal experiences. Following intuition by choosing images meaningful to you opens a source of wisdom often denied by the verbal and over-thinking mind. The deck of SoulCollage® cards you create becomes a friend, an ally for daily check-ins as well as powerful imagery that honors and reflects your unique history. It’s remarkable that this simple process of choosing and gluing magazine pictures to 5”x 8” cards holds so much energy! No experience is needed to fully engage in creating these cards. Cheri is an experienced SoulCollage® Facilitator who provides a calming and supportive space for exploration. Students say Cheri is knowledgeable, creative, warm, inviting, and inspiring. “Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.” – Ibn Battuta.

Techniques for painting birds in pastels.
This workshop is for pastel painters who are at least advanced beginners or beyond and have completed several paintings in pastels. The students must be familiar with and have used the three hardnesses of pastels and the different types of pastel paper.
The theme for the workshop will be techniques for painting birds in their natural environment, however these techniques can also be used for a variety of other subjects. The instructor, Don Osterberg, will demonstrate variations of underpaintings, blurred backgrounds, atmospheric perspectives, and the blocking in and final detailing that can be used for painting birds.
All equipment and supplies will be provided by the student. This should include a basic selection of artist grade hard, medium, and soft pastels and anything you use with them for painting. Also, at least four 9” x 12” sheets of artist grade ( ie, UArt or Art Spectrum) white or off-white pastel paper with medium or 600 grit texture, and a backing board and tape. If you prefer using an easel and you have a portable tabletop one, bring it. If not, we do have some simple tabletop easels at Art Place.
During the workshop the students will be encouraged to share their painting methods and techniques. The workshop will be informal, and the takeaways will be a collaboration of techniques from everyone.
Please bring a variety of colored pictures of birds that you can choose from to paint. At the end of the workshop the students may not have completed a painting but will have several paintings started that use different techniques. Also feel free to bring something to eat and drink during the 30-minute lunch break or you may leave to get something. If you have any questions, please e-mail me at dmosbo37@gmail.com
