Create your own expressive work of Art and discover the freedom and joy of painting intuitively.
In this fun and inspiring workshop, I'll guide you through the process of creating a non-representional acrylic abstract painting. No experience is necessary, whether you're a beginner or experienced artist, you are welcome.
We will begin with intuitive warm-ups designed to loosen you up and get your creative energy flowing. You will explore gestural mark-making, expressive lines, and loose, spontaneous strokes to help you feel confident and ready to paint.
Along the way, we'll discuss and practice the principles that help an abstract painting come to life, including colors, compositions, organic shapes, and values. You will learn how these elements work together to create a painting that feels balanced, dynamic, and expressive.
I will share information about the supplies, materials, and tools we will use, along with helpful tips for getting the most out of your acrylic paints.
Most importantly, this workshop is about letting go, experimenting and discovering your own creative voice. There are no rules about what your painting should look like. Trust your instincts, enjoy the process, and see where your imagination takes you.
By the end of the class, you will walk away with your own fabulous abstract painting and a new sense of confidence in your creative process.
I will provide informative handouts, two canvases, paint, and tools you will need to create your work of art.
Join me for a creative, fun, and exciting day of painting, exploration and discovery. You may be a dreamer, a beginner, or an experienced artist--you are all welcome!
If students wish to use some of their own supplies, such as favorite brushes or acrylic paints, they are welcome to do so. They may also bring a specific size of canvas they would like to work on.
I suggest a sack lunch and drink. We will take a short lunch break. Disposable gloves and apron or comfortable top that you don't mind getting paint on are optional.

As an artist I believe that creativity comes in many forms. It is never boring. I've been enjoying teaching for what seems like always. I started and stayed for 25 years as and educator in MI. For the past several years, I've had the pleasure of teaching art workshops in Charleston, SC area and Delray Beach, FL. I am a juried member of thr Palm Beach Watercolor Society, where I recently received their Signature Award. Earlier this year. I was honored to have my work selected for an exhibition at the Cornell Art Museum in Delray Beach, Florida. I have been member in many guilds and organizations, currently a member of the Art League of Hendersonville. I have been a seller and contributing member of the "Art on the Square" in Summerville, SC and the "Style de Vie Art Gallery" in Delray Beach, FL. Over the years I have been honored to receive a variety of awards. I have done many large abstract commissions for private individuals and businesses and continue to do. My passion is painting large works.
I am married to a great guy. We have traveled the USA together. We spend time in Southern Florida and lately have been enjoying the charm of Hendersonville and it's beautiful area. We have two children and 5 grandchildren whom we adore.
