Be prepared to upload an image of the masterwork you are basing your Fabulous Fake on (not your finished artwork).  You will need to upload a masterwork digital image at the time you register.  You must name your image file as follows:      YourName-MasterArtist-Masterwork Title
Make sure to label your image properly.  Contact the Exhibit coordinator if you are uncertain as to how to rename your digital images.

ELIGIBILITY: The fabulous fakes exhibition is open to all 2023 members of the Art League of Henderson County. New members are welcome. Membership application and dues must be paid in advance or accompany the entry. All media for “fake” renderings that can be hung on display or displayed on a 12”x12” riser will be accepted.

Only one entry per person will be accepted.
(artwork must be viewable by patrons of all ages).

Artwork will be accepted on a first come basis until available space is filled. Applications must be completed on-line and submitted to the exhibit committee via the Art League website. ENTRY PROCESS: DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS MONDAY, APRIL 3, 2023. All applications must be submitted electronically. Exhibiting artists will submit a competed application form for each entry through the ALHC website, WWW.ARTLEAGUEHVL.ORG. A link to this form is located on the EXHIBITS page. The online submission form also contains an electronically signed waiver of liability at the bottom. No paper applications will be accepted. Assistance is available for anyone who is unable to submit an electronic application by contacting Norie Sanchez at noriequilts@gmail.com.

A clear, reproducible image of the original Master work is needed for display next to each entry. The image should be a high resolution jpeg, and represent the image only, showing no frame, mat, or other background distraction. The image must be sent electronically to exhibits@artleaguehvl.org by April 3, 2023 end of business. The image file name should be as follows: Your Last Name, First Initial, Title of Masterwork, Master Artist name. Example: Sanchez, N, In the Meadow, Renoir

SPECIFICATIONS: Each entry must be an adapted rendering of an old master, master, or prominently recognized artist. The fake needs to include a visual twist or change that makes the painting or 3-D piece uniquely yours.

Maximum size for 2D work is 34” x 40”, outside edge to edge, including frame. Minimum size must be 11”x14” edge to edge, including frame. Work under glazing and over a half sheet in size (15”x22”), except for pastel, must be glazed with acrylic sheet, not glass. ALHC will not be responsible for glass breakage.

3D work must be of a size that will sit on a 12” square riser or on the floor.

All paintings must be framed or on a gallery wrap of at least a 1.25” thickness. Work must be properly wired for hanging (NO SAWTOOTH HANGERS). Paintings with defective frames or dirty glass will be rejected.

The Art League of Henderson County is not responsible for any damage to artwork.

The artist’s name, address, telephone number, medium, title and price must be attached securely to the reverse side of each work.

SALES: All work must be for sale and there is a commission of 30% on any piece sold. Sales will be handled by each gallery. All work must hang through the duration of the show (unless an out-of-town purchaser).

VENUES: ArtMoB, Flat Rock Gallery, ArtPlace and others. The Fabulous Fakes Committee will determine which work goes in each gallery. Entrants may not indicate a preference for one location over another.

DELIVERY DATE: All artwork is to be delivered to the assigned venue on Friday morning, April 14, 2023 between 10 am and 12 pm. Late entries will not be accepted. Any works not sold will be moved and rehung at ArtPlace on Monday, April 24, 2023.

PICKUP DATE: Artist pickup of unsold work will be Monday, May 1, 2023 between 10 am and 12 pm at ArtPlace.
