Facilitator: Heidi Mayfield Drost
Date: June 13 and 20, 2023, at 1 - 3:30pm
Location: Art Place Studios Warehouse
Fee: Members - $110; Non-Members - $125
Maximum Class Size: 6
Supplies: A supply list will be provided indicating what each student will need to purchase and bring to the class. Heidi will have some of these supplies available to sell to students as it can be challenging to find the pigmented wax at reasonable and best prices. A full list and where to get supplies will be provided once participants sign up and pay for classes.
About the Instructor/Artist: Heidi has always been a creator, an artist. One of her truest gifts & passion however is teaching art and bringing out the artist and creator in us all. She began teaching at the Lighthouse Art Center Gallery & 2D Studios, a non profit gallery, museum and art school in Tequesta FL as an instructor where she taught abstract painting, acrylic, mixed media, encaustic wax and oils. Her art journey started when she was 5 years old, watching her mother paint with oils, encaustic wax and pottery. She went on to explore batik and following her mothers passion for art and creating, began painting with encaustic wax as well. She makes her own encaustic wax medium & pigmented encaustic wax paints to paint with. Her first formal college discipline however was pottery. She studied three years of pottery before she enrolled at the Art Institute Ft. Lauderdale FL where she learned and explored a variety of mediums and techniques including illustration, oil, acrylic and watercolor painting, airbrush, silk screen and photography. Her studies continued in Asheville UNCA where her focus was on printmaking.
