Event Description
Instructor: Heidi Brickhouse
Date: 11/14/2025
Time: 6 pm - 8 pm
Member: $80 Non-Member: $90
This class is geared towards those seeking a more in-depth experience with beadwork and to build upon their introductory skills! We will be creating a pair of earrings to take home. I highly recommend taking the introduction to beadwork class prior to taking the advanced beginner. If you did not sign up for the first class, that’s okay! I just ask that you become familiar with the steps of completing basic brick stitch weaving prior to the class. I will do a review of the brick stitch but prior knowledge will help everyone advance to the more technical part of this class. We will learn how to create rows where we “add” and “subtract” beads from the stitch. I will also introduce the concept behind other weave patterns like the peyote stitch and square stitch.
All materials will be provided, and this workshop will introduce new materials such as Miyuki seed beads, thread of different weight and gauge, thread guards, and pattern templates.
Artist Bio:
Heidi Brickhouse grew up in the mountains of western North Carolina. She found the beauty in her natural surroundings to be a driving force behind her artistic expression. Several years ago, she decided to explore more of our picturesque country by hitting the road full-time in her converted school bus. During her travels, she has been fortunate to experience a wide variety of landscapes and wildlife.
Living tiny drew Heidi to one of the smaller mediums you could choose, seed beads. Although she attended Appalachian State University for her B.S. in Commercial Photography, she is self-taught in the art form of bead weaving. She loves that the medium allows her to explore a vast field of colors and motifs while still creating something wearable and tangible.
