Introduction to Writing Personal Poetry is proposed for future poets who fear the blank page more than they fear keeping their words bottled up. Starting with what poetry is, participants learn ways to express their feelings or describe experiences so the readers of their poems share the poet’s mind. A poet gets to do this with only a metaphoric postcard, not a ten-page letter.

Artist Bio:
Richard Morgan grew up in Newburgh, New York, 60 miles north of New York City. He has been a teacher for over 50 years, a poet longer than that. He published his first book, I am Sea Glass, in 2011. Poemshine is his eleventh book. In 2018, he moved with his wife, artist Pat Morgan, to Hendersonville, North Carolina, where they live with the wind on the side of a mountain. He teaches as often as he can and tries to write poetry every day.
