Story Stitching: Printing & Embroidery on Fabric
Discover the art of storytelling through fabric in this hands-on workshop. Participants will learn how to print personal or vintage family photos onto fabric and transform them into unique necklaces or framed mementos. Bring broken jewelry pieces to add a personal touch to your creation.
The instructor will provide needles, embroidery threads, and scrap fabrics, though students are welcome to bring their materials. A full explanation of the printing process, along with additional techniques, will be covered in class.

Important: Students must email the instructor a photo they’d like to use before class.

Artist Bio:
Tammy Miller is an award-winning multidisciplinary studio artist. Her work serves as a form of visual communication, allowing her to process and express the emotions and experiences of her life. Each piece is a reflection of her inner thoughts and feelings. She primarily works with paint and fiber, creating acrylic paintings inspired by nature, while her use of fiber connects her to her childhood. Growing up, she spent countless hours exploring fabric stores with her mother, drawing inspiration from the colors, patterns, and textures she encountered. She often transformed scraps of fabric into small treasures, such as Barbie clothes or bags, finding beauty and function in what was available.

The act of slow stitching has become a meditative and joyful practice for her, allowing her to capture memories not through images, but through each stitch, which represents a moment or emotion. For Tammy, art is both a form of creative expression and adornment, where beauty and function come together. The tactile experience of hand-stitching enables her to relive the memories that inspired each piece. Her work is a journey of transformation, where materials converge to tell a unique and personal story.
