Artist Bio: Kadie Sanders paints, makes books and explores indigenous craft traditions. Studying with incredible mentors (a decorative faux painter, a museum curator, and a Cherokee dollmaker) to name a few. Mentorships have helped her grow as an artist and she seeks opportunities to mentor young artists in their journey. Re-purposing old art works ia a recent focus where Kadie cuts up esteemed paintings and finds new meaning in a freeing, sustainable practice. When not at her studio at the Art Place Studio, #7, you can find her mothering her amazing daughter or at the Allison-Deaver House Museum in Pisgah Forest, working on ways to raise money for porch restoration. If you have never taken a still-life drawing class of artifacts in a 209-year old house, come draw with Kadie.
