About the Class: Enjoy learning the creative powers of pastel. You can learn to translate what you see into what you paint, through palette selection, use of certain materials, picking correct values (colors), composition, plus blending and layering of colors. We build on different stages, starting with sketching and drawing, blocking in and building up, leading to a successful painting. Some drawing skills are required.
Supplies: A tabletop easel will be provided by the Art League. I supply a minimal Supply List. I will bring a lot of my pastels, papers, and other supplies so you don't have to invest too much.
Artist Bio: Beverly Kies is an accomplishments pastel artist. At the age of 5, Beverly's mother (a watercolor and oil painter), sent her to the Atlanta School of Art. This early passion eventually led to a degree in Art Education from The Ohio State University. Beverly's paintings represent a medley of work, celebrating animals, places and people. Pastels have always been Beverly's chosen medium, where she enjoys a certain playfulness in her renditions, using vivid colors and expressive strokes.
