Instructor: Marcia Rieff
Date: January 2, 9, 16 & 23, 2024; 10am - 1pm

Fee: Members: $150, Non-members: $165

About the Class: The class will cover, the importance of creating B&W and color sketches as road maps for a good painting and using different style methods, special effects for painting like spattering, using frisket, taping, sgraffito, repetition and alternation giving the student a wider range of watercolor painting skills. Supply list will be distributed prior to class by teacher.

Supplies: Students should bring their own watercolor painting supplies-
- Paints
- Flat and round Brushes (1" flat, #6, #8, and a rigger brush)
- 140# Arches or Fabriano, fluid Paper (not strathmore) no smaller than 12" x !6" inches
- Sketchbook
- Covered pallet, 2 or 3 section water container, sponge, paper towels, toilet paper role, masking tape, HB, 2H, Ebony* pencils, white eraser spray bottle, hard service board*, plastic table cloth* *optional

Experience: This class is open to students that previously have taken Marcia's Watercolor Basics Part #1 and/or Part #2 OR previous experience and ready to step up to learning some of the next level essential building blocks of painting.

About the Instructor/Artist: At an early age Marcia was always involved in art. After receiving a BFA in graphic design, packaging and photography, she was a design director for major corporations for over thirty years. She was responsible for establishing new product design, and redesigning of many major brands. Upon retiring, she returned to her passion, painting watercolor and continued to study with several artists such as Alvaro Castegnet, John Saliminen, Eli Rosenthal, Sterling Edwards and many more. Marcia has been inspiring and teaching new watercolor students in New Jersey and North Carolina for over 12 years. She has won local, regional, national and international prestigious awards, as well as signature member for NJ Watercolor Society and NYC Catharine Lorillard Wolf Art Club. She demonstrates basic foundations in watercolor, using landscapes and still life’s from personal experiences to new students so they can experiment and aspire to their own levels
